Principal Data Scientist, Datarock
Presentation Title: Using Deep Learning to find impact structures in continental-scale datasets
Mark is a geoscientist and data scientist. His goal is to make sure that geoscientists all around the world are making the most of their data.
Mark studied maths, physics, and geoscience at Monash University, graduating with Honours in Geophysics in 2010. Mark began his career at Rio Tinto Exploration, moving from hardware development, to exploring for copper in the Andes, to specialising in development of geophysical modelling and machine learning workflows.
In 2018, Mark joined Solve Geosolutions – Australia’s pioneering machine-learning-powered geoscience consultancy, and soon afterwards became a Director of the company. In 2021, he assumed the role of Chief Technology Officer for Datarock, a technology venture co-launched by Solve, and drove development and adoption of innovative and best-practice digital solutions in the industry.
These days, Mark loves working with Datarock’s amazing team of mining, exploration and technology professionals to help solve his clients’ increasingly tricky problems!
