Geological Survey of Victoria (GSV) and The University of Melbourne

Dr Mark McLean is a geophysicist whose career bridges government, academia, and industry innovation. He divides his time between the Geological Survey of Victoria (GSV) and The University of Melbourne. At GSV, Mark leads a highly experienced team of geoscientists responsible for Victoria’s state-scale geophysics and 3D geological modelling. In his academic role, he lectures in applied geophysics, teaches undergraduate students, and supervises postgraduate research projects. Mark is also actively involved in research with mDetect, applying muon tomography to geoscientific problems. He currently serves as the Victorian Branch President of the Australian Society of Exploration Geophysicists, supporting professional engagement and knowledge sharing within the geophysical community.
