The 2nd ASEG DISCOVER Symposium 2026 will host a Workshop program on 27 & 30 October 2026, and an Oral Technical Program on 28-29 October 2026. These events will include presentation types as follows:
Workshop Presentation:
Each themed workshop is planned to be 3 hours in length, and comprised of several presentations and open discussion. This will be confirmed following the review process of submissions to each workshop. Presentations should avoid commercialism, and there should be minimal use of logos etc. Additional information regarding the presentation format will be advised to the presenters at the time of selection.
Technical Program Presentation (Short & Standard Oral):
The number of Oral Presentations able to be accommodated in the program is limited and presentations will be selected by the Abstract Reviewers. The duration for the oral presentation is planned to be 20 minutes for standard oral and 10 minutes for short oral presentations including questions. This will be confirmed following the review process. Presentations should avoid commercialism, and there should be minimal use of logos etc. Additional information regarding the presentation format will be advised to the presenters at the time of selection.
Abstract Reviewers reserve the right to reallocate your abstract which was accepted as a standard oral presentation to a short oral presentation should this be required. You will be advised of this and given an opportunity to confirm your acceptance.
Step 1: ASEG DISCOVER is using Events Air as the abstract collection portal. Please create a new user account.
Step 2: Log in to the ASEG DISCOVER 2026 Submission Portal.
Step 3: Download the abstract template. The MS-WORD template is available above, along with the corresponding PDF as a formatting reference.
Step 4: Use the template to write your abstract. Once completed, export as a PDF document with the name ‘aseg2026discover_AuthorInitilals.pdf’. The PDF as submitted will be used for all Symposium purposes (review, delegate download, publication). Please take care that your final PDF is formatted consistent with the template. This is essential for the publication process, where metadata are extracted directly from the PDF.
Oral Abstracts are between two (2) and four (4) pages using only the official DISCOVER 2026 Word document template. This includes cited references. No other document templates accepted.
Step 5: Submit your correctly formatted PDF via the ASEG DISCOVER 2026 Submission Portal. Complete all other fields, noting those labelled with a (*) symbol must be filled. Click on ‘Submit’ to complete the PDF portal submission process. Authors will be able to resubmit an updated abstract PDF prior to the Call for Abstracts deadline of 1 June 2026.
Step 6: Authors will be notified of their acceptance or decline by 15 June, 2026, subsequent to the review process. If necessary, authors may be requested to resubmit their abstract PDF should it not adhere to the formatting guidelines. Accepted authors will also have the opportunity to submit their abstract/s for inclusion in the ASEG Extended Abstract Series. Information regarding publication will be shared with presenters at the time their submission is accepted.
Abstract
- The Technical Program Committee reserves the right to reallocate your abstract which was accepted as a standard oral presentation to a short oral presentation should this be required. You will be advised of this and given an opportunity to confirm your acceptance.
- Abstract PDFs must be submitted via the online abstract submission portal for inclusion in the Abstracts submitted only by other means (photocopy, email) will not be accepted.
- Abstracts will be reviewed after the submission deadline of 1 June 2026. Presenters will not be able to modify their abstracts after this date.
- Once the reviewing process is completed, authors may be requested to resubmit their abstract PDF should it not adhere to the formatting guidelines or it requires additional information.
- You may withdraw your abstract at any time by contacting hayley@laevents.com.au with written communication.
Presenter Agreement
All presenters must agree to the following conditions when submitting an abstract:
- Affirm that the substantial content of the work has not been, and will not be, published (in print or electronically) or presented elsewhere prior to the ASEG DISCOVER Symposium.
- Abstract PDF’s will be made available in electronic format to Symposium participants. Accepted authors will also have the opportunity to submit their abstract/s for inclusion in the ASEG Extended Abstract Series.
- The correctness of the abstracts is the responsibility of the authors. The Symposium Managers will not edit the copy although the abstracts will go through a review process and be advised of their abstract outcome.
- As a commitment to attend and support the Symposium, the presenters of the accepted papers are expected to register and pay either for the full Symposium Program or the day of their presentation, before 15 July 2026 (a reminder will be sent to authors). Failure to register by this date may result in submitted abstracts being removed from the program.
- The preparation and supply of any handouts or other materials used in any presentation will be the responsibility of the presenter(s).
- All costs to attend the Symposium including registration, travel and accommodation are to be met by the authors.
Prior to the Symposium
- All presenters must be registered.
- Prepare your PowerPoint presentation in 16:9 aspect ratio.
- Save your presentation to a USB for upload in the Speaker Preparation Room onsite. Please do not send your presentation to Leishman Associates prior to the Symposium.
At the Symposium
- Collect your name badge from the Registration Desk upon arrival.
- Check-in to the Speaker Preparation Room, prior to your scheduled session to ensure your presentation is uploaded and all presenter requirements have been satisfied. Your presentation must be uploaded at least 2-3 hours before your scheduled presentation time; this may mean the day before your presentation.
- If you have audio and/or video in your presentation, please ensure you have the files saved separately as embedding the media does not always include them in the PowerPoint file. This will allow the Technical Team to re-embed and/or change the format of the video onsite if needed.
- If you are using custom fonts not found in the standard system fonts, please use the “Embed fonts in file” feature found in Save As/tools/save options. This will ensure that your fonts travel with the PowerPoint file when saved.
- Please ensure the contents of your presentation including photos, data, graphs etc. are generated by yourself, referenced or the appropriate owner has granted you permission to include their work for educational purposes.
- It’s important to note that presentations cannot be uploaded in the plenary room. It is your responsibility to check that your presentation has been loaded and is displayed correctly prior to the commencement of your session.
Each room will be equipped with the following:
- Data projector
- Screen
- Microphone
- Lectern
- Laser pointer
- Laptop (presenter view)
- Wi-Fi access
If you require anything additional to the above, please email your request to hayley@laevents.com.au and we will endeavour to meet your request.
During your session
- Arrive in the session room 10 minutes before the start of your session to introduce yourself to the session chair.
- The Session Chair will introduce you and your presentation title, so there is no need for you to repeat this.
- The Session Chair will keep you on time.
- Each session room is equipped with a windows-based PC, data projection facility and speaker monitor. Be sure to test your presentation in the Speaker Preparation Room.
After the Symposium
- Your PowerPoint slides (PDF Format) will be posted on the ASEG 2026 website post-symposium on a password-protected delegates-only page. You are required to give your permission for your presentation to be uploaded to the Symposium website.
