Overview
This workshop will demonstrate the range of 3D inversion capabilities now available in the Geotools suite, through parallel presentations and live software demonstrations.

Ground and airborne data types include natural and controlled source electromagnetics (MT, CSAMT, AFMAG, TEM, FEM), gravity, AGG and magnetics.

The live software demonstrations will cover:

  • A typical 3D workflow: MT and AEM data input, QC, 3D mesh design and model building (half space), inversion parameter set ups, loading to Viridien Cloud, real-time monitoring of the inversion, import results and analysis.
  • Integration of geology in the 3D inversion: importing horizons (e.g. base cover, top formations, known / inferred fault surfaces, etc.), flooding the 3D model between horizons, and/or setting regularization tear parameters at the surface (e.g. across a fault), then as above run inversion on Viridien Cloud.
  • Joint 3D Inversions: e.g. MT+AFMAG (on single 3D resistivity mesh), and MT+gravity through cross-gradient link.

Registered participants will have free access to Geotools for 2 weeks straddling the workshop, and a demo dataset if needed, via secure web-hosted SaaS; usable therefore on any PC or mobile device.

What are the learning outcomes?
How to efficiently get from input data to reliable 3D inversion outcomes, through data analysis and QC, 3D mesh building including constraints, inversion settings and 3D output (model and data fit) analysis.

Who should attend?
Geophysicists and Geoscientists interested in learning about 3D inversion of multiphysics data.
